The Sokolow Family in New Orleans

This year (June 2001) we spent a few days in New Orleans

New Orleans was a great trip. We stayed in the heart of the French Quarter, right on Bourbon Street. The city was filled with good food and lots of history.

New Orleans!

New Orleans was an interesting location for a family vacation. Of course it's seedy and full of hucksters and nude bars, but it is also steeped in history and one of those old Spanish/French founded cities that is still very walkable and so unlike the sterile suburban environment we usually surround ourselves in.

The streets of the French Quarter are beautiful, especially in the early morning or early evening light.

Our favorite breakfast was beignets. It was also our favorite afternoon snack.
